Heartbroken!
Why? I'm not sure if any of you remember a while back me talking about insurance issues??? Yeah, same thing. I thought maybe the paperwork had been pushed through because my Medicaid showed as active in the hospital's computer when I went for PAT on the 2nd. Well, I went to pick up one final prescription before tomorrow's surgery and found out I have no coverage. WONDERFUL!
I went home and immediately got on the phone with DHS. Of course, I can't ever get a person to answer their phone and of course, leaving a message is useless because they don't call anyone back either! So I went down there to find out that my case worker who has had my recertification papers for a month now STILL hasn't processed them AND left early today! What a crock! Then the person I spoke with told me that even if she found someone to push the paperwork through today, I still wouldn't show up active tomorrow morning.
So I called my surgeon's office to see if they would still allow me to go through with surgery because I KNOW I'll still be eligible and that once the paperwork is sent through, there will be no lapse in coverage. But the answer, sadly, is no.
So my surgery is postponed until my caseworker can get my papers processed... however long that will take. I'm devastated and the first place I want to turn to is FOOD! Thinking since I've been on clear liquids all day in preparation for my non-upcoming surgery and therefore have only had 25 calories, PIZZA is for dinner tonight. In an effort to get the next available surgery date, I'll start my pre-op diet again tomorrow. But tonight, I'm binging and I don't care how unhealthy it is.

Awww Man! My Heart goes out to you! Benging will only make you feel good for the moment. Their is a reason even though we dont understand. It reminds me of how it took me 3 times to pass the State Board.... I cried and cried over ate and threw multiple fits.... But when it finally happened it truly made me appreciate it more because it didn't come easy. It's going to happen! Delay doesn't mean Denial! Hold your head up and keep Running this race! Hey surgery buddy,I am sorry to hear about your surgery. I thought once something haas been approved they had to cover it. well make sure you get up and go to the office and ask for a SuPERVISOR. i hate Medcaid, I am on it too, so i know they hate to do their jobs. But it will get better and it will happen for you,,,Enjoy your pizza, have a slice for me. Know that your time is coming soon, maybe the doctor office will do it sooner than later. but please dont give up.
My pizza wasn't even that great. Didn't make me feel better or anything and surprisingly, I wasn't even able to eat as much as I used to. Considering it was my only meal besides my broth and SF jello earlier, I could afford the calories from the pizza.
In an effort to speed up the process as much as possible, it's back to the pre-op 800-1000 calorie diet tomorrow. If I go off of that, I'm going to have to do the full 10 days again after I get my new date. If I stick with it, they'll just let me skip it and get me in sooner.
I hope I don't have to wait much longer.
