Now it's October something...
So I've been waiting for my surgeon's office to hear from my HMO provider that I have coverage again. I thought I would be hearing from them yesterday or today to give me a new surgery date. I was wrong.
In fact, I found out on my own today that my surgeon's office wouldn't be getting verification of coverage from my HMO until 10/1 because that's when my Medicaid plan rolls over to them from state medicaid.
So I called my surgeon's office and got the answer I was expecting. They still can't give me a new date until they have the verification from the HMO since they are who I have the pre-authorization from.
So I won't know a surgery date til 10/3 at the earliest... which means my surgery will probably now be October something, NOT 9/27.
If this crap keeps up I'll never have my surgery. Trying to keep my head up, guys, but I'm having a hard time. I hate having everything up in the air and not knowing if/when I'll have my surgery. Starting to feel like I'm doomed to live in this obese body for the rest of my life.

I know this is hugely stressful and frustrating. A year from now, though, when you've lost a ton of weight, you'll look back on your journey and say yeah, there were sure some bumps in the road but I hung in there and it was all worth it. And it'll seem like bumps then, not giant mountains like it seems right now.
This is a very long journey you're starting on. A detour in the road might make the trip a little bit longer than you were expecting but if you're traveling 2000 miles (barefoot, in the snow, etc) what difference does an extra couple of miles make?

Please note: I AM NOT A DOCTOR. If you want medical advice, talk to your doctor. Whatever I post, there is probably some surgeon or other health care provider somewhere that disagrees with me. If you want to know what your surgeon thinks, then ask him or her. Check out my blog.
Take the extra time you have to start working on those good eating habits that you'll need post surgery. You can also walk, walk, walk, to be in good shape for the surgery. These activities will help you move to the place where the surgery is a help to losing weight, but there's a lot of changes that everyone needs to make in their head to be successful long term.
