Chronic Pancreatitis and Gastric Bypass
I'm two years out and had right side pain. After a week...it woke me in the night. I spent a night in the hospital for pancreatitis.
They don't know why it happened. I spoke with my surgeon and was told that it can happen and is usually brought on by poor diet.
I'm worried it may be chronic.
hope you're better.
My Daughter had gastric bypass in 2006 and just diagnosed with Chronic Pancreatitis March 2015. I had gastric bypass in 2007 and not having these problems. This is all new to our Family. They don't have a cause for the pancreatitis but a Dr mentioned it as a chance it may be related to gadtric bypass. She is on low-fat diet and prescription digestive enzymes. Have you found anything to help? Thank You, Linda
Has anyone gotten anywhere wit this? I have been chasing after what is wrong with me for several months. I thought it was an ulcer (had one in the past), had a scope, not it. I have had CTs of abdomen, pelvis and chest, and an MRCP. The CT of my chest finally shows calcification in my pancreas, sugesstive of chronic pancreatitis, even though the CT of abdomen just a few weeks earlier was "normal". I have had a period of time (a few weeks) of relatively no pain or other symptoms, but I have had issues going all the way back to May. Right this moment, I have had about a week of no pain, but, lots of nausea and some vomiting. I have started changing my diet on my own (no eggs, no cheese, etc) and I see the gastro for the first time tomorrow. My pain is in my upper abdomen, lower chest (left side) most of the time, but I also get a pulsing type pain under my right rib, where my gallbladder would be. (Had my gallbladder out several years prior to WLS). The pain, when present, is horrible, but I have not gone to the hospital because most of the time I don't feel like moving (I actually work in a hospital, but make a terrible patient!) Are your symptoms similar?
