X-post: Calling all my friends with implants--massage after surgery? When/how?

Well I'm about 4 days out from a lift with augmentation. My boobs feel huge, tight, hot (and not in a good way) and sore. There is no sign of infection per the nurse from my postop visit who said I could start massage by pressing my boobs together 10x holding for 5 seconds twice per day. Just wondering how and how soon you did massage and when the hell the tenseness and discomfort eases up.

Thanks y'all!

Denise

I started this the day after surgery - it's to help prevent encapsulation.   Not sure how effective it is, but mine never encapsulated so worked for me!!!    If I remember rightly, mine were really sore for about a week and then were just uncomfortable when trying to lie down and sleep ...

I started at my first post plastics appt. I was told to massage them 3-4 times per day. Mine didn't hurt until the nerves woke up and the implants pressed against the nerve. They do look large until the settle.

I started immediately when I was told to.  I had implants in 2004, and to this day I massage daily like my surgeon said I should.  My implants are very suptal.  My GYN said that is the way it should be.  She has patients who are so rock hard she can hardly examine them.  I was actually surprised at how painful that procedure turned out to be.  I have a very high pain tolerance, but that pain lingered much longer than I expected.  I purchased the bras/types I was told to buy, but I finally increased the size because the pain didn't seem to subside like it should have.  Once loosened the tightness due to bra size, that helped immensly.

Thanks! Their support bra really was not that supportive. I put on one of my more supportive bras but am wondering if I should go back to their looser one. I've been a little taken back by the pain because everyone says breast work is a piece of cake. Well if this is cake, then I don't want any!! How long do you massage each day? I've also heard you should so that forever. Glad you've had a good result!
