Just a little pat on my own back

OK... this may seem very small, but I made it through my first day of my 14 day pre op liquid diet.  I really didn't know if I could do it, but low and behold... I DID:) .  I am so thankful I made two HUGE batches of chicken and turkey broth and put it in the freezer.  That really helped me through the day, it had great taste (much better than canned/boxed store bought stuff and much less sodium) that satisified me.

I'm patting you on the back too...you deserve it.  Keep it up.  It does get easier.  I was so pumped by the time I was approved, the liquid diet seemed like a small thing after having gained insurance approval and all that went with that.    I wish I had discovered sugar free popsicles pre-op; I found them post op.  I eat several each and every night.  They are my treat, are great tasting (especially the Tropicals) and satisfy my sweet tooth...when I allow them to.  You might try them, if you haven't already.

I was ok with protein drinks on my 2 week liquid diet, but I was certainly tired of them by the end. I didn't want them after my surgery, either. But I found a great way to turn protein powder into a milkshake and I have one for breakfast every morning. Basically, blend for 2 full minutes and add ice and blend some more. This link has the exact recipe and lots more.

Good for you! A 2 week liquid diet is challenging, but in 6 months, you won't even remember and will be looking and feeling fab! Keep up the good work!
