Hey All!
Well I have to say that I was SO ready for surgery that I went in to the OR and came out a changed person. I had diabetes, pain in all parts of my body, my knees were killing me, there wasn't a day I didn't wake up and feel just utterly depressed.  Then I went into surgery, woke up felt no pain, had no diabetes and it was the "RESET" I had wished for, dreamed about, I am now realizing.

The surgery has given me a POWERFUL tool to work with. With this tool and others given to me to work with I am going to be successful! I am already on my way and I can only look back at myself and see I am better off.  I've read, listened, researched, patiently listened to the "horror" stories of operations gone wrong, stories of people financing their house, losing a ton of weight and then regaining it all back plus some! Suffering through all sorts of horrible experiences, coming close to death....... but nothing scared me more than to realize that I was on a  fast track to death before the age of 55 from a heart attack, stroke, or something of that nature if I didn't get help -- and SOON!

I received it August 16, 2011 in the form of a Roux en Y - gastric bypass surgery and I couldn't be MORE happy that I did it. I am glad that I did it, that the insurance covered the partial expenses and I would do it again in a heart beat.

I really didn't have any other choice ---- and now as I've shed 38.6 pounds in a little over 6 weeks, I know I made the right decision.  In fact this operation was a breeze compared to my gallbladder operation 3 years ago!  Life is so much better for me now and I am going to do whatever it takes to get to my ultimate goal!

Whatever risks there were, the risks of NOT having the operation far outweighed (no pun intended) the risks that could have possibly happened.  I went in fully expecting to wake up and be just fine. I did and I feel good about my decision.  I encourage you and anyone trying to make the decision to have weight loss surgery -- of course there are risks, but don't let the hype of bariatric horror stories deter you from doing the thing that will change your life --- FOR THE BETTER!
