almost a year out and hair is thinning
OK so I know the hair thinning is so normal for us.But isnt it usually early out in the process? I thought you were past that at about 6 months or so.Well I am a year out this month and now all the sudden Im noticing my hair will not grow and is feeling very thin.I usually have the thickest hair. Not currently and Its got me worried. What is causing this,I get my protien in.Im not everyday faithful on my vitamans but pretty darn close. What,if anything can I do to help this so it doesnt get to bad.And how long does it usually last?
Loving this new life, just trying to figure it all out and take it all in day by day!!!
I'd be surprised if she was losing hair that far out and it was not due to a vitamin or mineral deficiency of some kind. Unfortunately, docs don't always order all the labs that we probably ought to get done. I wonder if she has some deficiency that hasn't been checked for?

I don't know what could be causing the hair loss at 1 year out as I am a new post-op (15 weeks tomorrow). However, I have heard a lot of people mention that the Nioxin hair products will help your hair grow back quicker. It will not prevent the loss, but it should help it to grow faster. Also, Biotin and Zince are supposed to also help the hair to grow faster. I have been taking both the zinc and biotin albeit not everyday... and so far so good. I have not noticed any abnormal hair loss and my hair is growing like crazy. I have even had people mention to me how long my hair is getting. I use Tea Tree Oil Shampoo and Conditioner which is supposed to cleanse and stimulate the scalp which helps the hair to grow. I hope you find something that will help. Good luck.
Have you had labs done lately? A year out it's probably not a reaction to the anesthesia and other stuff that happens typically a couple months after surgery.
