Hello. So it's been almost 6 months since my surgery (October 12th would be 6 months!). I haven't been on here in a couple of months. Been very busy with work and enjoying my summer(oh so sad it's over!).

I can't believe it's already been 6 months. It went by extremely fast. It feels like a month ago I was just starting to prepare to do all my pre op testing. My highest weight ever was 301lbs. When I met with my surgeon for the first time I was 284lbs. I now have finally broken my 200lb mark. I am 198lbs. I didn't think i'd ever see the day below 200lbs. I have had numerous stalls, mostly my fault I am sure. I am down 86lbs and so happy. The last time I remember being the weight im at was when i was 18, and i'm 25 now.

I am a size 14 in jeans and last time i remember being a size 14 was in 7th grade I was 12/13 years old. I can finally shop just about anywhere I want to.

I still have about 50lbs to go to where I will be ok with my weight, ideally i would like to be 60-65lbs down from where i'm at now.

I don't regret my surgery at all and couldn't be happier that I did it. I haven't had many problems, minor ones but nothing I couldn't tolerate. I have caved in to certain foods occasionally and can't say I eat 100% what i SHOULD be eating all the time, but 95% of the time I do. I never been much of a sweets eater even before surgery. Last month I was craving sugar, sweet things etc. Couldn't figure out why. Had a cookie one day, and a small bag of peanut M&ms another day. Little did i know it, a week and a half later I got my period. First time EVER on my own. 6 years ago was the last time i had my period and that was from having to take medroxyprogesterone to bring it on because i have polycystic ovarian syndrome. So that explains all those cravings i've had. Now i know.

My labs have been great i had my 6 month labs done and seen my surgeon yesterday. Everything is good. My cholesterol is finally normal minus my LDL is still a bit high but finally nearly almost a normal cholesterol and i don't remember the last time i've ever had normal cholesterol levels.

The only real issues i have complaints with is the hair loss. ugh!! i've always had extremely thin hair. now it's unbelievable. i wi**** would just grow back already. i think because i don't get in a higher amount of protein that is probably contributing to part of it. the other thing i've developed is orthostatic hypotension. anytime i go from laying down to standing up, or sitting down to standing up i get EXTREMELY dizzy, light headed, my face gets real hot and sometimes i feel like i am going to collapse. my blood pressure drops low. i couldnt' figure out what it was, i thought it could of been sugar levels but my surgeon told me yesterday this is normal and some people develop this after 3-6 months from surgery and it does correct itself. that my body is going through changes and needs to level out. so hopefully that will go away!

anyway i have uploaded pictures of progression to anyone who wants to see. those of you who are pre op or are early out and regretting the surgery, i am telling you it DOES DOES DOES absolutely get better! it is all worth it in the end!!!

You really inspire me! I am 2 months behind you and agree with you completely; this is the best thing I've ever done. Thank you for sharing your story...you are human and have to battle with cravings, and it makes our own struggles that much more real and authentic. Keep up the good work, you look amazing!

You look fantastic! I am six months out as well. Almost seven, and about 20 lbs from goal but have been stalled for a bit.

I have the same two problems you mentioned. My hair is so bad, the only thing I can do is wear it up in a clip. I don't want to cut it any shorter because then I won't have that option. I also have a fake ponytail that looks pretty normal I will wear from time to time. I do see about 1000 little baby hairs growing in (about an inch long) so I know its only a matter of time, but its still difficult.

The blood pressure thing is hard - there are no remedies for it. My blood pressure was low prior to surgery and now its extremely low. I've been to the doc and apparently that is ok and its just how its going to be, but it doesn't stop the dizziness.

It was great running into you the other day....you look amazing!!!

I remember how nervous you were before having the surgery.  Isn't it funny how time passes and this becomes your new 'normal'?
