I too have heard chapstick, your own pillow, photos of loved ones, a book and talc powder, somebody told me the device they put on your legs to avoid clots can sometimes make your legs sweat if they aren't cloth lined.

I knew I would not get to shower so I brought a travel size can of dry shampoo spray and some of those individually packaged oil of olay daily facials. I did not want to lug cleanser and moisturizer and all of that but I won't lie, I am vain. lol  Went home in the same clothes I wore in but do pack extra underwear. I was on my period when I got there and so got to keep my underwear on until the last minute but got them all messed up with a betadine scrub they had me do on my abdomen prior to surgery. Was nice to have a fresh pair to go home in. I brought a magazine, even though I am an avid reader, I was not much into it but did flip through the magazine. I also brough a pair of PJ pants to put on once the catheter came out so I did not moon in anyone while walking the halls!

Good luck! You will do awesome!

Hope your day is great!

Thank you, thank you, thank you for all your replies! I would have most certainly forgotten the pillow from home (which is a MUST)! I've thought about bringing textbooks to try and get some assigned reading done while I'm laid up, but not sure how up for it I'll be. Good news is, if I do forget anything, it's not a long drive for hubby or some other family member to come grab whatever it is that I need! :)
