Question for those 7months out from RNY
I'm a little over 7 months out from my RNY surgery (March 2nd was my surgery date).
I've found lately that I'm losing less weight...it's SLOWED WAY DOWN over the past couple of months. I've lost about 105 lbs total since my surgery. And I'm pleased with that, extremely pleased with that number. But within the last 2-3 months I've noticed that I've not lost alot of weight...maybe 5-6lbs or so, maybe more--but that's it. I was wondering if others who are at the same place as me (7months out) are losing more slowly as well?
I've been stuck at the same weight for a few weeks now. Which is okay...at least I'm not gaining any. I'm trying different things to jump start me out of this stall, if that's what I'm experiencing. Don't know for sure. It just would be nice to start losing again. I don't have that much more to lose, about 30 more lbs. I suppose. But I just wanted to know if there was anyone else out there who's at the same place as I am...and you're experiencing the same type of SLOW weight loss or stalls. Perhaps it's normal. I'm not gaining at least. But I'm not losing a pound a week either. Just seems like I've been hovering around the same weight now for weeks, a month. Since August...I might have lost 5 lbs total. Of course, I did lose 100 lbs rather quickly in about 6 months. So maybe that's why it's slowed way down for me. I just hope I keep losing...I want to reach my goal weight.
If you're 7 months out from RNY...please drop me a line and let me know how you're doing...weight loss wise. I'd be curious to know how I'm doing compared with others who had RNY surgery about the same time as me.
THANK YOU!

I'm 15 months out (I started at 300+), but I can tell you that at 8 months out I stopped losing for months. I was at 174 and thought I was done. Then, about 3 or so months later, I dropped another 30 rather quickly. I wasn't aware that I was doing anything differently.. but, I was happy to see the loss. I have been maintaining at about 144 since then.
Congrats on your progress!!

Oh wow! Thank you guys for posting! This is really encouraging for me.

I am almost at my year (next week) and I have lost from 294 to 201 today... so I am very happy but I did go to some time after my 8th month that I was only losing 3 to 4 lbs every month. It is comforting to see that the weighloss is going to come back (and it has!)
Keep up the good work!

i had surgery march 8 and i have lost 98lbs and have pretty much been at this weight for about a month...i have been losing super slow since month 4. i also have about 30 lbs to go but the doc says that i am doing well and to just hang in there.
i just started working out with a trainer so i am hoping that will help boost things for me.
hang in there! it sounds like we are not alone : )

I'm right at 7 months post op and my weight loss has slowed considerably. My doc told me to expect a few plateaus between now and the one year mark. I'm down ~ 125 lbs since surgery which is absolutely amazing. I went from September 8th to September 30th with no weight loss. I did increase my intake by adding an afternoon protein snack, and I've lost 10 lbs since upping the intake.
Hang in there...the weight loss will start again....enjoy the journey! Congratulations on your success thus far!

I'm 7 months out and right there with you. I slowed way down a month ago.. so I increased my calories from 800 to 1200 and I dropped 12 lbs in less than 2 weeks.. but ever since I have just been losing and gaining the same 2-3 lbs. It's so frustrating especially because I want to get down 80 more pounds. I know this is "normal" but it really does feel like I'll never lose anymore weight which is so depressing!!! I'm just going to keep doing what I'm doing and hope the scale starts moving again soon. Good luck to us all!
I am right there with you. This is my first real stall. I figured out that I needed to increase my intake of calories and when I did, I started losing again. It is going slowly, but movement in the right direction is always good.

My surgery date was March 1st, 2011. I'm down 85 pounds and have about 15 left to lose. I've only lost about 5 lbs a month the last two months. My calories are at 1200 a day, I am working out an hour plus daily plus doing an extra karate class/workout two days a week. So I wonder about this too - I'd really like to get to my goal, but I sometimes wonder if this is it.
I will be 7 months out tomorrow and I go to see my surgeon for what was suppose to be my 6 month check up but they were so booked anywho I have SLOWED down a lot too. I am stuck at 215-217 for the last little bit I have lost about 108lbs I am happy with that but want to lose 40 more if i can. this is the first REAL plataeu I have had so we will see. guess looking at everyones posts this is the time for a nice break. I say my body is holding onto this weight b/c for a LONG time i weighed between 210-220. I will be soo happy when i can start working out again hopefully within a month, ill be allowed!
