So this is day 2. My cath came out, still very little pain but boy can I feel the gas pains.  I am also having problems urinating.  I don't want the cath back in but I am running out of options. My surgeon has them giving me 1.5 Liters so that I can go n I am about half way thru and still don't feel anything.  I couldn't go the morning of surgery either. I think it is dehydration.  They think I will be able to go after the fluids. I am hoping cuz I don't want the cath.  I can't wait to start seeing results and posting them on here!! Good luck everyone.

just sit for a while on the toilet, turn on the faucet and relax. I think it takes everyone a while the first time.

 think nice flowing water. lol

I'm so excited for you.  I'm also going for a revision to RNY.  I'm hoping to get rid of this damn band end of December.

Make sure you walk walk walk... maybe that will help with the peeing too.

I had my surgery last Friday (10/14/11) and had the same problem peeing. I just didn't feel the need to go. So every 3 hours or so I'd buzz the nurse, she'd unhook me from the leg squeezies and off I'd go to sit and wait. I always went eventually, but I did have to strain a bit - something I was reluctant to do at first. If they are giving you fluids I'm sure you will go eventually.

I was the same way

hardly any pain from surgery
just a lot of gas pain, walking didnt help much, I had to wait it out. also I couldnt pee it took forever after they took me off the cath. one of the nurse said its from the pain meds they give you too. listen i was stressed to because i sat and sat on the toilet and nothing. I went for a walk and just grabbed a magazine went into the bathroom turned the faucet on and I just sat there. it took about 10 mins but i did finally go not much just a few drops. I followed that routine until I had to go again. it takes a long time. Not sure about anyone else but even when i did go in the hospital it didnt all come out at once had to sit for awhile. they tell you not to force it. But i was getting so upset because I didnt want to be on another cath. So all in all you will go just try to take your mind off of it.

Well I had a few trickles last night but the cath went back in.  This morning they took it out and I took a nap and woke up with the urge to go. Yipppy about 500mL came flying out!!!! And now I am home.  Thanks again for all the support. Now the hard work begins.  I have been drinking my 2 oz of water per hour and had some chicken broth also.  Tomorrow I start the full liquids....hope that goes well.
