 Thanks - I think you are right - I look in the mirror and see what my face and body used to look like a long time ago, and they have never seen me the way I'm supposed to look.

I think "skinny" is one of those words that is in transition. To a lot of people it doesn't equate with emaciated, but is rather seen as a good thing. I know I often say "when I am skinny, I will..."

We use many words today that don't have the same connotations they originally did.

 Yeah - and I don't so much have a problem with the word skinny - except that I'm not skinny;  I'm just pounds from normal, but no where near 'skinny' - I really don't care if I'm every skinny, but I am enjoying being 'normal' :)

Perhaps "skinnier"...?       Just tell them "No, I'm skinnier, but not skinny yet!"
