Hi. I will be flying to Florida four weeks out from my RNY. I am wondering what would be good to take to eat at airport or on plane. I do not want to rely on airport or airplane food. I will be 4 weeks out and on soft and moist food. Thank you for any input.

I had to travel shortly after RNY while I was on soft foods. It was no different really than before surgery. I ate a yogurt in the car on the way. They provide tons of water on the plane so I was never dehydrated (which is the most important thing that soon after surgery). I ate Wendy's chili during a plane change on the way to my destination and got a scoop of tuna salad from a deli on the way back. I also picked up a protein shake at a news stand (they were at every airport) in case I felt the need for extra protein while I was in the air. I didn't drink it until after we landed. It's really not that tough to travel. If FEELS like all day, but it's really not.

You can take string cheese in your purse, too.

Maybe a boiled egg if you can eat those...

Beef or turkey jerky;  high protein energy bars (more than 6 grams!!) should be OK; single
servings of  cashews or almonds.  You can just chew and chew and chew!!

With the TSA rules, I don't know about packing a lunch that isn't commercially wrapped, but
you might be able to find an Odwalla Protein Smoothie in a shop.

Good luck!

I took cheese sticks, protein bars and those small jiffy peanut butter containers. I just put them in a baggie in my carry on and I had no trouble.
