I just had my 3rd surgery on Saturday

1st was laposcopic surgery RNY Gastric Bypass on 9/8/10
2nd was laposcopic internal hernia on  7/4/11

and now Belly button hernia repair with mesh (not laposcopic, had to be cut from belly button up about 5  inches (havent look under bandage yet)  on 10/22/11

Would love to find some people who have had the same  Belly button hernia...starting to have questions. For example is it normal to feel the me****hink I feel something but maybe its my tummy still swollen and healing...

Still no buyers regret just in case anyone is wondering. No one said it would be easy and I am so happy that I have lost 186 lbs so far :)
Surgery date Sept 08, 2010.
Down 210 lbs since Surgery.

Healing likely isn't done, so it could be either.  Most patients do fine. In a few cases, the mesh can be an issue.  Hernia surgery for overweight people is not an uncommon issue.  Wish for a speedy recovery. DAVE

I had it pre-surgery.  No issues at all.  Yes you will feel the mesh - I still can feel it.  I don't feel it from my stomach unless I put pressure on it.

Best of luck with your recovery...should be pretty speedy.

You had mesh?  I had pig intestine!!!  I told my husband if I start oinking you'll know why... Gotta make light of a not so good situation.  Near death in my case.  I was 6 1/2 months out.  I had 15 staples from above my belly button, through it, and below it. No more pretty lil laprascopic scars I look like Frankenstien.  I guess my bikini modeling days are over!!!  hahahha

I had a lap umbilical hernia repair about 4 years ago. After my lap RNY on July 5th, my surgeon visited me in my room and said my surgery took a little longer because she had cleaned up all the scar tissue that had formed around the patch. A b onus, I suppose, but she did too well of a job and a couple of weeks later when I went back to work I had some tearing in the muscle where a titanium pin was fastened in my abdomen. It felt like someone was sticking a dagger in me, worse pain than the larger lap incision. It took a couple more weeks for that to heal.
