My wishes for you on my 3 year Anniversary

For my 3 year anniversary I am making these wishes for all of you that are following behind me on this journey. These are also my experiences!

I wish you have an uneventful surgery and recovery. I think that we all experience some degree of post-surgical doubts e.g. fear of failure. They will seem long ago and far away in no time, it is normal!

I wish you no hair loss.

I wish that you understand that the surgery only works on your digestive system and not what is in your head. It is only a tool, my complete thoughts on that is here http://www.obesityhelp.com/forums/rny/4369111/It-just-a-tool-not-a-fix/

I wish that you never experience dumping. The fear of dumping made me not “push the limits" so I have no idea if I am someone that this would happen to.

I wish you achieve your goal weight and then don’t go back to your old habits that got you to the point that you made this lifesaving decision. “Do what you always did and you’ll get what you always got." Bounce back weight or regain does not have to happen. I know personally 4 people that had surgery, lost the weight and then proceeded to regain. This really makes me sad. One of them actually told me 2 years ago “Come see me in a year, and then you will understand." I still don’t understand…….

I wish that you continue to take your vitamins and supplements, drink lots of water, wait 30 minutes after you eat before you drink and continue to exercise.

I wish that you can walk into a room and not have even a thought that people are judging you based on your weight ever again.

And most of all, I wish you happiness, contentment and good health!!

A few things that I don’t wish for you….

Reactive hypoglycemia, it sucks! But, in the grand scheme of things, is quite manageable.

I have lost a little too much weight. I haven’t done this on purpose; I had spine surgery in April and lost a few pounds post op that I haven’t been able to get back on. I am still trying.

I am happy that I made the decision that I did to have RNY, and happy that I found OH. I'm not here as much as I once was, but still read when I can. I am going to try to get back to my daily visits and post more....I promise!!

Martha, congratulations on your fabulous success.  Maintenance is hard, and you've shown that it doesn't have to result in bounce back or anything like that.

As for your spine surgery and resultant extra weight loss, I hope you're healing from your experience well and that you are able to consciously put on those few extra pounds to get you where you want to be.

Thanks for the inspiration and take care!
