Colonoscopy tomorrow
So I'm having the dreaded colonoscopy tomorrow. I was on a clear liquid diet yesterday and today too. I have to start the bowel prep today at 2:00 PM...ugh, I am not looking forward to it. I have a HUGE jug of stuff I have to drink. The directions say to drink 8 oz every 15 minutes... How the heck am I gonna do that when it takes me all morning to drink a 20 oz protein drink?!? Any suggestions? Plus I am soooo worried about the actual procedure tomorrow. I have never had a colonoscopy but I've heard horror stories of people waking u*****t being completely sedated and feeling pain. I am freaking out here. Any words of encouragement would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
For drinking the stuff, I would just do your best to drink the eight ounces every 15 minutes. I imagine if you get close to that, it'll be OK. Now, if you're only getting one ounce in 15 minutes or it takes you two hours to drink eight ounces, that might be an issue. But if you get close, I bet it'll be fine.
For future reference, or for anyone else that has to have some sort of test for which you have to drink a lot of nasty stuff, if you're concerned you might not be able to drink all of it, talk to your doc about it ahead of time.
I've never had a colonoscopy but I had to have endoscopies twice and was very worried I'd wake up during the procedure. I have PTSD and was very sure I'd totally freak out if I knew what was going on. I told everyone I saw that, the nurses, doctor, everybody, and told them they absolutely had to make sure I was totally out, and they did. If you're really worried about it (and I would be too if it was me) I would just tell them you really need to be out completely. They can probably even give you something before they actually get started to help you relax.

Please note: I AM NOT A DOCTOR. If you want medical advice, talk to your doctor. Whatever I post, there is probably some surgeon or other health care provider somewhere that disagrees with me. If you want to know what your surgeon thinks, then ask him or her. Check out my blog.
I had one last year and it was a piece of cake! I was awake for part of it and watched my "lovely clean colon" on the video but I felt absolutely NOTHING - not even discomfort!
People say the bowel prep is the worst, but I didn't even have a problem with that - Crystal Light took care of the disgusting taste and I just kept sipping until it was all gone ... I usually go twice a day anyway, so no backups to take care of!
You'll be fine and will be wondering what all the fuss was about this time tomorrow

I had one 2 weeks ago. I am still a pre-op so dont know if there is a difference for it I was a bit scared myself never had one either. It was easy no need to worry.. had mine done at the hospital. I am a diabetic plus my weight. I checked in, The nurse asked why I was having it done. I told her I was of the age and I was in the process of having WLS. She told me she had had it done. So we had a great conversation. After I was put in a room told to take all my clothes off and given a Johnny. They put in my IV and I just waiting for my turn.
I got into the room. I was told to lay on my left side. Make myself comfortable. The Dr. gave me the meds I was out.. I slept through it. I did wake up a bit. knew there were people around me. but didn't feel anything. I went back to sleep. When I went back to recovery I would have still slept but they woke me up. Had some juice and toast Spoke with the doctor .I stayed for less than a hour. Went home I walked to the car.
I thought there would have been some pain but there was not. I did pass gas but not painful at all. For me it was easy. Good Luck
