Appetite Back?!?!?!?

I am almost 8 months out and all of a sudden, literally, my appetite came back.  I know everyone is different, but if you've been to this stage before is this about the time that the appetite comes back normally?  I am struggling now with eating too much now at once, I think because I actually feel hungry.  I feel snacky most of the time, but try and snack on almonds, yogurt, cashews, beef jerky, cheese etc....I guess I am just seeing where people are at this stage in particular :)

This is a life long journey I am ready to take...bring it on

I have heard our appetites can just come raging back out of nowhere. That scares me to death because I have become comfortable with not having to use my own willpower to resist snacking or make the right choices. But one thing I have noticed is that often folks who find themselves feeling snacky have gotten a little lax about limiting their carbs. I know for me, carbs really trigger my appetite and cravings. It may have nothing to do with it, but maybe you want to take a look at whether you have increased your carb intake lately.

I'm 10.5 months post-op and can say I have been truly hungry a
handful of times. I think now that I can eat most anything, I've found
myself having to really focus on "head hunger", which may always be
with me. But if I really think about it, I often find that I'm wanting
something in particular, which tells me that it's not real, physical
hunger. I only want or crave things when I've got head hunger.
I'm back to focusing on protein and looking at added carbs with
huge CAUTION signs on them. I think I may be one who wants
more carbs if I start eating them. I think it's easier not to go
there.

I'm a little over a year out and I have felt hungry a time or two but mostly I eat on schedule, 4-5x a day plus my protein in the morning and evening.  So I am eating every 3 hours or so and try to think of it as meals instead of snacks.  Snacking was problematic for lots of us.  Our meals never changed.  I eat about 3/4-1c, 4x a day usually.  If I am really hungry, I will add another meal.  Always, protein first, then veggie.  I stay away from white carbs, flour, sugar, potatoes, rice.

7 months out and get ravenously hungry, even when I'm eating proteins only. When it's time to eat my stomach growls and I'm STARVING. And unfortunately it has been like that since day 1 post op...boo for me.

I am eight months out as well and my appetite has come raging back over the last month. Its honestly a good feeling - I feel like my body is responding to what I am doing food wise and exercise wise. I recently upped my weight training and I think the appetite is a direct response to that and of course the time lapsed since the surgery.

I am just making sure I track everything I put in my mouth, trying to keep it healthy, and keeping the water up. Its nice because I am craving healthy foods with the hunger, so I know that is what my body is wanting. I mean, I never used to wake up craving chicken breast or steak!

Just be careful. Try eating small portions more frequently. I thought the 4-5 times a day sounded good as long as you make sure it's small portions. Make sure they are healthy and get your protien down first. I am almost three years out and I have just started battling this one.  I have had some complications along the way and my Dr wanted me to eat because he was worried I was getting to thin. So now almost a year later I'm gaining...... I feel hungry all of the time, and I'm gaining more then I want and now feel discouraged that I have to change everything. I'm very active and I exercise. It has just all of a sudden become an issue. It was so nice to have to make myself eat and now it's like I want to eat everything. Going to see the Dr. today to see what we should do now. Good luck to you. It is such a crazy journey.
