Went to the Dr today I am down to 295.........I have lost 31lbs since surgery and 41 total.... I really cant tell a difference yet hopefully I will start to notice something soon but I think that is not enough weight for the amount of time 6 weeks, but the Dr said it is wonderful that it equals out to 5lbs a week and what did I expect to loose 10 a week....I just hope Im on the right track...talked to the NUT today and hopefully figured out a way to stop all the being stuck...she said the things that are gettin stuck are too dry for me, so I have to start putting sauces or gravy on the drier things and see if that helps...she also said since I can not stand the smell of whole wheat to start eating white tortillas pita and flat bread.......also she said to go ahead and do the chewable calcium since I am having a hard time gettin in all the pills....the Dr said the weight lose will slow down to around 2 to 3 lbs a week........I go back on Dec 20th

The crappy white flour is what is geting stuck and hurting.

Cut that junk out.  DO NOT eat white foods.

Good luck.

Why does she think it's very important to eat bread, even white bread, if you don't like whole wheat?  I think that's bad advice.  I don't think it's a good idea to eat much bread of any kind when you're just six weeks out but white bread has no nutritional value at all, it's just empty calories at a time when you need to get as much nutrition as possible from your food, and it can cause your blood sugar to spike and crash and in some cases even causes dumping.  Of course it's up to you but unless you have room in your pouch for food that gives you no protein, no fiber, no good carbs, it's not a good thing to eat.

What kinds of things have been getting stuck?  Are you taking too big a bite or not chewing well enough?  I don't think I've ever had anything get stuck.

Please note: I AM NOT A DOCTOR.  If you want medical advice, talk to your doctor.  Whatever I post, there is probably some surgeon or other health care provider somewhere that disagrees with me.  If you want to know what your surgeon thinks, then ask him or her.    Check out my blog.

I am sorry, but as a health educator I find it hard to believe that a nutritionist would tell you to pick white over whole wheat...might be time for a second opinion? There are so many other high fiber alternatives if the whole wheat smell turns you off...

Not that I'm an expert (I'm only 4 weeks out) but I, too am shocked that you are being told its ok to eat any bread.  I went to my 4 week visit today and am now able to eat a lot more things than I have been but was told to avoid any breads, pastas, wheat or otherwise.  I can only eat chicken, seafood, fish, veggies, salad, on occasion mashed potatoes and cream of wheat, oatmeal and fruit (except grapes).  And after 4 months I can add red meats. My NUT told me after 4 months I can start adding some wheat but its better to avoid it as much as possible.  I know every Dr is different but my Dr has a crazy success rate and he has many awards and speaks often regarding this surgery and successes.  Good luck to you!!
