Back ache
I had GNY surgery 10/24. The last few days I've had real bad mid-upper back pains. I asked my daughter to take me to a mall so I can walk around. Just as I started walking the pain got real bad. I saw chairs and sat for a few minutes. Starting walking again and pain got real bad again so we left. I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem. Tried walking on tread mill today pain is comng bck. Just want to know whar is going on.
I just had RNY on 11/2 and am experiencing the same thing. 2 things I think could be happening. 1st, when you have surgery, they really rough you up a bit on the table working on you. I know a lot of people who have pains in all different places that shouldn't be after any surgery. 2nd, and I feel like it is too early for this, but I have heard of people that have some back pain once they start losing weight. Something about the weight being gone, but your back is having a bit of trouble knowing how to distribute the changes in your body. Just a thought.
Not RNY but I had this and the problem turned out to be wimpy back muscles.
Simply put, during surgery they cut your abdominal muscles in several places. While they are healing and not performing their appointed torso carrying duties completely your back muscles have to pick up the slack. My back muscles were having none of that, thankyouverymuch and gave me fits.
The symptoms didn't start until I had gotten past the very early recovery stage and was starting to do more normal activities. That's when I started putting the excess strain on my back muscles and really ticked them off.
Ended up on muscle relaxers on and off, but about week 6 the pains disappeared as mysteriously as they came when my abdominals started healing or my back muscles got with the program or whatever.
