I am 10 day out now and the last 2 days I have started itching!  I had the RNY and am still on all liquids. I take a chewable multi vit twice a day and I am taking a chewable iron twice a day also. Dr. put me on aciphex once a day.  I have been sticking to the AdvantEDGE carb control protein shakes and the Jay Robb Whey protein shakes.  I eat quite a bit of yogurt - regular and greek - and either have the Soup at Hand tomato or blend the cream of potato or broccoli cheese soups for my meals.

Anything that looks off there? I go back for my first check up on Tuesday but meanwhile I itch!! Started on my belly and I thought it might be the lovenox shots then I noticed my arms itched and today it is including my sides and back.

Is this normal?

Nancy

I had it too!  dry skin, need more fluids and lotion up, I also took liquid benadryl to help with the itching.  my palms itched like MAD and drove me crazy, it won't last forever, just make sure you are getting plenty of fluids and you are moisturizing your skin.

I itched like crazy for severely weeks after my surgery!  I thought I was loosing my mind, my sister (she is an RN) told me it could be the after affects of all the drugs that were pumped into me during surgery, I guess leaching out through the skin... I actually always thought it was extremely dry skin!  I drank a ton of water and used a combo of Vaseline and baby oil (rubbed them together to make a sort of paste) and rubbed it on daily, it helped tremendously!

HI...
I am 7 weeks out and I still get itchy sometimes. Always my stomach! People must think I'm weird with my hands up my shirt all the time, lol. I wondered if it had something to do with stretch marks...not that they are getting smaller, but they are "hanging" differently and maybe stretching somehow, lol. I have no idea, I'm just glad it did get better from what it was in the beginning. Good luck!

I had this too and my surgery was Aprl 2011. I still get the itchiness and I attirbute it to the malabsorbtion. My body dries even more than before and i itch. I keep massage oil to rub on and this helps a little. I carry a small bottle of oil in my purse and I keep a lip moisutrzier as well.

I'm not familiar with Aciphex, but you might want to check with your Dr. whether you could be having a mild allergic reaction to it or something else.
