I think many people think you will change!  I actually had a patient of mine say "well, you won't be your same jovial self anymore".....stereotypes!  Don't you just love 'em!  I agree with other posters...are YOU happy about your decision and your weight loss?  I am totally THRILLED that I can fit in a booth AND shop in regular clothing stores AND run in 5K races AND on and on and  on!  It was the right decision for me and the only things that have changed about my personality are that I no longer stand for disrespect and I feel SO good about myself that I'm out there doing something besides stuffing my face all weekend!  Don't worry too much....they'll come around!

My family is very vocal about things that is why they didnt know about the surgery until i was in the hospital done...hehehe...It could be the same for your family as mine they had a hard time seperating the surgery from the success so they just kept quiet at first, but now that i am starting to do more and have a more positive attiude they are comming around.  Just remember that this was done first for you!!!.   Keep up the good work and the people around you will come around.

 Thanks for advice-they kinda look at me like I'm fixin to drop dead and it didn't help a distant member of family had RNY 4 years ago and recently died although no one knows why?? I think maybe my family is scared?? Thanks and best wishes to you
