QUESTIONS FOR MY LADIES THAT HAVE ALREADY HAD SURGERY??

I know that these are crazy questions, but when you went in  the hospital to have your WLS were you allowed to have your nails and toes polished and manicured? Also I wear acrylic nails, and sometimes I wear acrylic overlays on my nails, was this allowed during surgery as well? I love having my nails done and my feet pedicured, it is the divah in me! Also I would like to keep my hair wrapped up with a satin scarf on it during surgery, do anyone know if this is allowed? I really just don't want to spend money on my nails and toes if they are going to make me take it off! Thanks ladies I will appreciate any of your comments!

I think every surgeon is different. They will be able to better tell you what they expect. I was not allowed to have any nail polish on my fingers. But I had a pedi a few days before my surgery and that was not a problem.
I have my nose pierced and they told me I needed to have a plastic insert in because of the metal... When I came out of surgery... it was gone and they still removed the plastic insert so... I think it all depends on the surgeon.
As for the scarf... I would guess they wouldn't allow it. With all the machines you are hooked up to and things around your head and face it is probably not advised.
But after all that I would definitely call and ask.
Good luck on your surgery!

Don't know about the silk scarf, but my guess would be probably not because it is not sterile. As far as fingers and toes, my surgeon required me to remove nail polish. You will have to ask about acrylic nails.

Good luck.

I'm not sure about the nails.  But going into the OR, they will want you to put on a paper hat that looks like a shower cap.  I don't know if they will let you wear your own scarf underneath that or not but I'd say there is a good chance they will not.

You could call the hospital and ask to speak with the anesthesiologist on duty and ask him/her, though.  That's probably the best person to tell you.

I know when I was having my csections they wouldn't let me have anything on my nails. They look at the nail beds, etc to check for O2 issues and what not.

Yes Debra girl I am feeling you, but us women will bear everything just to look good! I am hoping that they don't make me take off my nails and polish!
