OT Please Pray XPost
It just breaks my heart to hear about what you and Tazzie are going through right now. I lost my best furry friend of 18 years in August, a month after my dad was gone. If there was one blessing, it was that I had just enough time in advance to hold her, and say my final goodbyes. You are both in my prayers.

I am so sorry. And no, spending $500 on an 11 year old dog is not crazy. I took my 12 year old yellow lab to the vet three weeks ago with what I though was a scratch that wouldn't heal on his face, and the vet told me it was a tumor and had to come right out. Left him there for surgery and picked him up later. That was a Friday. My vet is wonderful, he called me on Sunday the minute he got the results and told me it was benign. Thank God! That was over $800. So you are not the only crazy one out there.
I am so sorry she is so sick. It's so hard to watch them suffer and to lose them. And you can't even explain to them what is happening. I've been there before. Hope they can find some sort of cure for her.

Many small dogs live to be 20 years old.
Unless it meant I was starving my small child, I'd sacrifice a lot more than $500 to make my dog well, or even just to be more comfortable. I have 2 poodles, a toy and a mini, and I love them more than most people I know.
I took the mini to an emergency vet once due to bloody stool and vomiting, and paid $300 for IV treatment and medications, and another $500 for stayover in the dog hospital for 4 days. And felt so happy he survived.
So nope, spending money on a beloved pet isn't crazy, it's a responsibility.
Best wishes for you and little Tazzie.

As a fellow animal lover I understand the feeling of losing someone who is a part of your family, not just a pet. I have to share a story with you...
We had a family cat that we found out had cancer at 13, my father spent $1000 to get a bone marrow transplant which was a long shot. The transplant worked and our baby lived 7 more wonderful years, it was worth every cent. The thing is they are members of our family, if it was a child we wouldn't think twice. Do what your heart tells you to do.
Praying for your family!
