Well it is almost time, and I am so nervous, and excited, I am truly glad that Christmas has came and went! I am goimg to start packing for the hospital, can anybody give me some ideas of things to carry, or things that you wished you would have carried with you? I am staying positive, and motivated, because I know that God have me covered! Thanks every body I really do appreciate the support!

The first day I slept a lot. I sorta read a book and listened to music. Chap stick was great, as well as pads (started my period) and toothbrush and toothpaste.

Good luck! I had mine on 12/22 and even though I was nervous things went great

Thanks Wendydettmer! I am on my period now, so I will be just about finished by the Thursday ( Thank God) I did not want to be on while I was in the hospital! I am staying focused!

Chapstick is a great idea! I could not believe how dry my lips got.

The main thing that I did not expect was that I was told that I would eat nothing but ice chips for the first 24 hours. But instead of the ice chips, they cave me a cup of water which I was not allowed to drink. Instead, there was a time sponge (about 1/2 inch cubed) at the end of a stick, which I could use to moisten my lips and mouth. IT WORKED GREAT! Ice chips are too tempting to chew, and the sponge with a great job of keeping my mouth moist.

The other thing that surprised me was that I lost 18 pounds during the 2 weeks of pre-op protein drinks, and then gained TWENTY POUNDS back during just 2 days in the hospital! It was all water from the IV, and it came off in 7 days, but I still don't understand why my lips got so dry while all tha****er was pumped into me.

Yeah I had that sponge thing too. It was a life saver! I also got all swollen fro the water but as you said it does go away.

Thanks Keeves I see that chapstick sounds like a must needed necesity! I heard about the water weight gain from the IV fluids, but I know that that is temporary too! Come on December the 29th!
