Home from the hospital

Well it is New Years Eve and I am home with a small pouch. So happy that the surgery is over with---now the healing process. It was hard to get my fluids in while I was in the hospital, and I guess it was due to the Iv fluids making me feel full and bloated. So I came home this morning, and got myself settled, so far I drank 20z of aquafina flavored water, 1 sugar free jello, 1 Popsicle, and 1-8 oz of isopure. So I think I am doing pretty good, I am just trying to stay moving, and drinking so that I won't get hydrated. I feel a lil sore and tired, so I took 2 crushed up Tylenol to help ease the pain, and later on before I go to sleep I will take the prescribed liquid narcotic. I got to blow in that air thing they give you after surgery--it helps exercise your lungs, and it helps prevents pneumonia( boy is that hard it seems like I get short of breath really quick, and I did not have this problem pre op) They wanted to discharge me last nite, but the pharmacy had closed and I would not have my pain meds, so I asked if I could stay until the morning. Well I am happy to be home, and Happy New Years Oh family be blessed, and as soon as I start healing I will feel alot better!

I know how you feel! I was set free Christmas day and all I did and still do a lot of is sleep! I also had a hard time getting my fluids in. But I get better everyday. I think today I might have even reached my goal all ready. Just remember to keep sipping and walking like everyone keeps saying! Kudos to you for being able to drink the Isopure-lots of protein but IMO, I think it tastes like sour milk. I am attempting to go to the bar tonight (I have a friend playing there), but instead of tipping back the Whiskey, I will be tipping back my Nectar Pink Grapefruit! LOL..........I am sure you will be feeling better real soon. Have a great New Year's recovering, and just remember, sleep is what your body needs, so get plenty of it!

When I came home from the hospital, I kept a timer next to me.  I set it for 15 min to remind me to drink.  I would change it up from protein drink, chicken broth then beef broth.  I made sure I drank even though I wasn't thirsty.  Keep drinking!
