VETS: BOUNCEBACK WEIGHT
Don't give up on the weight training - but you don't have to go to a gym to do it (or get a ride to the gym) you ca do situps, squats, etc....
Good luck.
Now back to you...your body may be trying to get to its set point. Set point is the concept that everyone is essentially "designed" to be a certain weight. My surgeon is a big believer in this and says I was not made to be super thin. After years of therapy and many exercises aimed at self acceptance I can say I agree.
Keep doing what you're doing. This is the time when that whole "lifestyle change, not diet" gets put to the test!
Hugs.
Anna,
I hardly believe that you are gaining weight every few days.. I would throw out that scale and get a new one.. maybe the battery is running low or something with the springs. I was recently upset about 4 weeks ago that I put on a couple of pounds according to my scale at home. When I went to the dr's office it showed that I was 10 pounds lighter? so the poor scale at home was reading "Lo" on the digital display.. I really at the time didnt think about it.. after some investigation, found out that that means battery was LOW.. and the scale was reading me much higher for some devilish reason.. changed the battery finally and discovered I was at my goal weigh still. Crisis resolved..
I know for myself, I sometimes get a bit lax with food measurement calculating calories too. For example yesterday, I just wanted toast, oatmeal etc. So thats what I ate.. Today, its back to protein shake and coffee for breakfast. My one friend at work who also had RNY, she is 4 yrs out. She measures everything and eats the same stuff everyday.. I dont think I could live that way.. Its too restrictive and I would rebel anyway. I didnt sign up for that..
Good Luck on your continued journey..
Michelle
As much as I wi**** were not true, it is. I almost did not want to post about it because I believe too strongly in the power of our words. I even asked my husband if he adjusted the scale and if his weight has changed. He had a cardiac issue this year and has to monitor his weight. He said he is staying the same. This is a medical grade scale used for a family member while they were in hospice. It does not have batteries and is calibrated to our doctor's. That is why I am really concerned. I did cut back on my cardio in order to lift more weights. But there is no way I put that much muscle mass on in a few weeks to account for the additional 4 pounds on top of the first 4. Maybe it is the added shakes and less cardio. One thing for sure, I hope it stops. Like Nik said I wonder if my body is finding a new set-point, which means I have to adjust my thinking. I hope not.
For me, it has gotten easier at 3 years out than it was at 2 years out. I am happy to report that the 2 pounds I gained during the holidays are officially gone as of today.
