I got approved...for the wrong surgery!

I originally wanted the lap band, but switched back before my surgeon consult.  I guess the office never updated my paperwork, because when I got the letter from the insurance company today it said I was approved for lap band, not RNY.  All I can do is laugh at this point.

Plus, I have a job opportunity that I'm waiting to hear back on, which would push back my surgery until June.

I guess this is all divine intervention.

It very well could be.   You should call your surgeons office and tell them that they submitted the WRONG surgical code for your WLS.   That should be a easy fix.    Good luck on your surgery and possible job offer whichever you decide to do...surgery now or wait till summer.    Congrats on approval anyway.

Hugs and blessings ~~~ Vivian

Would you have the same insurance with this new job opportunity?  If not, wouldn't you have to start the entire process over and hope the new insurance offers these benefits?

I will get new insurnace, but right now I am covered on hubby's, which is the insurance that covered the surgery.  So I think I'm good there.

Great...glad you're covered!!!

I had the lapband for 10-years and loved it for the first 7, but then encountered issues with the band. I just revised to RNY two weeks ago, and even though the pain from surgery is far worse than with the lapband, it feels so great to have the band out!  I can actually get food down quite easily without it feeling like it's sitting on my chest.

Good luck to you...

RNY on 08/19/09 with
Definately call them on the mix up.

I had my RNY august of 09. I have lost 260 plus pounds. I am so glad I had it. I could never have lost this much with the lap band. Ds was not an option with my insurance. So I took what was available and worked it!!!!

You can do this!!! Call the dr's office and get them to resubmit with the correct code and get your approval. You can rock your RNY and do great!!!!

Met my first goal, met my second goal, met my surgeons goal. Now I have a new goal!
