Need to vent
I am so frustrated. My surgery WAS supposed to be at the end of January and now I'm looking at mid February due to problems with paperwork. So anyways I was on a diet I did myself where I had 2 shakes and 1 meal a day. I slowly started adding more foods again and gained a pound back after losing 11 pounds. So now I am back on my shakes and one meal a day thing. Soon I will have to be on a complete liquid diet. The diet they order me to be on. But I am frustrated because I am not following it strictly like I should. I hope after surgery I dont ease off of what im supposed to do. God help me, please. I am so ready for my surgery. Please pray that it will go smoothly and QUICKLY!

That must be very frustrating! I was on a liquid diet for 2 weeks preop and it was very hard. Eating more food especially carbs again would have made me hungry again and would require everything to restart. Don't worry, once the surgery date is real to you, you'd be surprised how motivated you will be and how easy it will be to do what's necessary to get to the other side of the surgery. I thought I'd never give up diet mountain dew and coffee but as soon as I knew I had a firm surgery date, I gave it up without hesitation. Hang in there! You'll be great.

Hang in there, it will be worth it all. I lost 26 lbs pre-op to shrink my liver. The first 10 days, I had one shake and 2 meals a day. For 3 weeks I did 2 shakes and one meal a day and the last week, I did all shakes and clear liquids the last 2 days. I am a slow loser. Ive lost 12-11-13-9-8+ monthly, so the pre-op weight is a booster to help me reach my goal due the malabsorption phase.

As the dietician pointed out to me, if I were able to keep at it I wouldn't need the surgery. The delays do sap your strength for doing it. Once you have a date, Laura is right about how motivated you are going to get. Since you are already doing it partially, a total liquid diet should be a breeze for you.
I totally know how you feel. My surgery was scheduled and then I was called and told that my surgeon was out of the country on that week :( I went through "this is the last time I'll be able to eat this, so I'm gonna eat it phase" and gained 5 lbs. Just get back on track ! Prayers coming your way :)
