Two Questions-Sore Tongue and Protein Drink At Night

I have two unrelated questions but I didn't want to make two posts.
I have had a sore tongue for several days.  I don't see anything on it.  Is there a deficiency or some other thing that could cause it?  I've never had one that has lasted so long.
Also, I am having a problem getting in my night time protein drink.  No matter what I have, hot or cold, it makes me gassy and sick, sometimes I even dump.  I can have the exact same drink in the morning with no issues at all but whatever I have at night makes me sick as a dog.  I know I should just give up the ghost and not have one at night but I always forget in the daytime and I need to keep my numbers up.
This hasn't always been the case, although it has been on and off for a while.  Now it is everytime I have one.

The tongue thing - could be B12 or vitamin A.  But could be something else.  I was recently on some meds for a while that made my mouth really dry, and my tongue was sore a lot.  If it continues, you might wanna see your doc about it.

The night time protein drink - seriously, it seems like the easiest fix would be not to have one at night.  If you need a second protein drink, can you have it earlier in the day?  Like an afternoon snack?  Or can you have some other protein snack at  night?

My B12 did drop from >1500 in July to 1147 in January.  I finally got my doctor to test my Vitamin A and I should get those results back any day now.
I know I have to cut out the night time shake but I have been drinking it since I had my surgery.  Usually in the cooler weather I have a hot one and when it's warm I have a cold one.  I guess I need to have it earlier.  I will try Greek Yogurt at night and see if that makes a difference.

Well, your B12 is just excellent.  That's not the problem.

I would switch to yogurt or something for the evening protein and if you want, try the protein drink again in a month or two.  Sometimes it really makes no sense why we tolerate something or don't tolerate something and you just have to go with it.

A sore tongue is common with  Low B12.  It can be a symptom of pernicious anemia.  However, your B12 is good. It is also a symptom of low thiamine or niacin.  I can't remember which one.  Sorry.  School was a long time ago.  You might check into that though.

What about a protein bar at night or some slices of lunch meat rolled around a cheese stick.

I hear ya on the dry tongue - mine gets so dry feels like my tongue is coated in cement.   My doc thinks its my anemia.  Taking prescrip iron and water by the bedside and hoping that it goes away.  Good luck
