Sugar Free Candy = The Devil

I actually was looking for some recipes.  I guess hard candy is hard to make without sugar or things with sugar alcohols because those are the ingredients that cause it to harden.  If you come across any recipes let me know.

I cant have just one either. Im a total chocoholic and I try to save it for a bite of the good stuff.

Non ops suffer the pain of the sugar alcohols as well. When I was dating my husband, my roomate and I were hardcore Atkins. We had a basket of SF chocolates sitting out. I had left him in my house alone for some reason. When I came back, I saw part of a wrapper that had missed the trash can. I asked him how much of the candy he ate. He looked at me kinda red faced and said he ate them all. All I could do was laugh and say thats what you get! He spent the rest of the day in the bathroom.

Now SF candy is his Miralax...

Yeah when I was home for christmas my mom brought me some SF jelly beans (Jelly Belly...those used to be my FAVORITE).  I ate exactly what the bag said was a serving....yeah let's just say it was NOT pretty.  I went back and looked at the bag and it was LOADED with sugar alcohols.  I didn't touch those things ever again.

The smell and the runs - I can take... the gas pains - not so much. I had to give up SA for good.

Agree - they are the devil.

I just thought the ninja was funny. I had to quit before my surgeon will operate. I cut down to half a pack by only taking a couple of puffs at a time. I found once I got those in I was satisfied (added benefit used cigs taste like doo-doo) I did that for about a year. I tried Chantix (no, thank you) and the patch (didn't work) finally got one of those electronic cigarettes. Believe it or not, that was the ticket. I think I felt ridiculous, but it worked. I used it when I had a strong craving to smoke. Long story short, I didn't make a big deal out of it or set a quit date or even tell anyone just let it naturally play out. Otherwise I would still be obsessing on it. You can do it!! I recommend that over the sf candy. I tried that too. Best of luck and hopefully you'll try it.

I actually used Chantix and it worked.  I haven't smoked for over 2 months.  I have used it before to quit and it works.  It's just staying off of cigarettes that's the problem.  I hope I never pick one up again.  I know that it's easier not to smoke then it is to quit.  That is why I was popping the sf candy, as a substitute.  My friends have used the electronic cigs and it works for them.  I bought one a while back but it broke and I didn't get a new one.
I was just looking for something to do with my hands and mouth and found the sf candy to help.  Except the damn gas.

Have you tried chewing gum? I know some surgeons don't advise it because you swallow air and it can be uncomfy, but I for one haven't had that issue (then again, I don't chew it like a cow as I've seen others do, lol).

I quit a year and a half ago with Chantix. I used pumpkin seeds. The time taking them out of the shell and eating them really helped. Not sure about the salt content but it helped the first few months.  Good Luck and stay strong!!  I was at least a pack a day smoker. I never have any cravings. My only regret is that I did not do it sooner. I am never waiting to have a smoke when I am shopping or if I am in school helping out. It does not control my life anymore and my kids are so happy! I have never triee to quit before and was just ready! You can really smell smoke on a smoker now. I am so glad it is not on me! Good luck!!

I don't have the courage to tackle SA anything. I buy it, remember the pain last time, stare at it, stare at it, stare at it, and when it's expired I pitch it. No courage after the last over-indulgence. It's weird really because after my REAL sugar indulgences lead me to RH issues, I still have the courage to try again.
