Thank you so much for the information. So glad your cat is doing well. If I have to give mine pills, I will certainly try those pill pockets. Since your cat has been on medication, have you noticed any improvement in symptoms, i.e. back to eating normal amounts of food, water, etc. Also, did your cat get a scruffy/dirty looking fur? What other symptoms did your cat have?

I didn't really notice her having many symptoms, but when I took her in for her annual visit and shots, she had lost almost 3 pounds from her usual weight of 13 pounds.  That triggered the blood work to find out what was going on.  When I read up on hyperthyroidism, I realized she did have other symptoms, such as rough dry fur, losing more fur than usual, being more active than usual, and also being more irritable with the other cat, and even hissing at me occasionally.  It did seem like she drank and ate more also.  (Although eating more, drinking more, urinating more, and losing weight could also be signs of diabetes.)  Since being on her daily pill and getting her levels normalized, she has put a little weight back on, her fur is getting nicer, and she is much more calm and cuddly -- back to her old self.  If your cat is hyperthyroid, once you get it all sorted out, it is just a blood test every 6 months or a year, and a pill a day, so relatively inexpensive treatment to give her a long and healthy life.  Let us know how things turn out.  :)
