17 weeks out and feeling good! (Long) (PICS)
Hey folks! Been super busy so I haven't been around much. But I wanted to check in with you all and let you know I'm doing very well. As of tomorrow, I will be 17 weeks post op. I had my 3 month checkup with my surgeon on the 25th of last month and my NUT cleared me to start introducing solids! Yay! I am loving the addition of fresh fruits (in moderation) and veggies (I'm LOVING cherry/grape tomatoes right now) to my diet. I have also started working on eating MORE, which is so weird to me, but the lack of calorie intake is starting to slow my weight loss, so I need to really work at this!!!
I'm not sure exactly how far out I was when I realized it, but I am very happy to announce that I am able now to take several sips (or gulps) of water at a time, which makes it much easier to get in my liquids! I'm still working on my water intake as well, as it's never been perfect since surgery, although I'm always "close" to my goal. I am moving around well, have no pain at all, and overall am just having an easy time. As of today, I weigh 272.4, which is 2.4 pounds shy of being 1/2 way to my goal weight! This is down from my highest recorded weight of 385lbs, so that makes for a total loss of 112.6 pounds! As I said before, my weight loss has been pretty slow lately, so it's nice to look back at how far I've already come instead of focusing on how far I have left to go at the moment. I really need to start taking measurements so I can see how those numbers are moving as well. I can tell a difference in my clothes, though. Last week I bought size 20 jeans, when I was wearing a size 30 or 32 at my highest weight. I also bought a size 14/16 top, when I was in a size 26/28 at my highest weight (and sometimes even those didn't fit!). I'm very excited about the changes in my body and my life so far!
There is a Walk from Obesity event where I live next month and I've registered to participate. I am fully anticipating it to be an emotional event for me. Glad I'll have hubby by my side the whole time :) Oh! And speaking of hubby, today we celebrate 5 years together as a couple. I can't believe we've been together that long already, and I am looking forward to many more happy years with him.
Anyway, here is a progress picture of my weight loss so far. The picture on the right was taken a week ago, but I haven't lost anything this week, so I look the same today as I did when it was taken. LOL
