Seven Year Anniversary - WLS changed my life in so many ways

Good Morning!  It's hard to believe that it's 7 years already since my WLS.  Life has been "different" in so many ways, more good than bad for sure but lots of emotions and learning has had to happen once the weight I hid behind was gone.

WLS has been a blessing for me and has made me deal with things in a positive light.  Many people say it hasn't changed them, it HAS CHANGED me.  I am a much better person today then I was both mentally and physically.  My personality has changed, I don't allow others to walk all over me anymore nor do I feel I have to please everyone.  I'm still sensitive to others feelings and will never change my compassion and understanding of what others deal with in life.

To all of you I wish continued success in your journey.  I have enjoyed meeting and learning for so many on OH and have met MANY WLS people IRL that are true gems and friends.  Those of you just starting the process you will deal with lots of emotions on this quest for better health.  Deal with the emotions, seek therapy if needed (something I feared but so glad I did).

Do I think I'm free of any regain, heck no.  I still love food and still have to make good choices 90% of the time.  I know this journey isn't over, I'll continue fighting and pray I never allow myself to be complacent.

Thanks for letting me share!

 Congratulations Cajungirl:

You, Lynn and Stephanie were the three people that I followed on OH six years ago.  It is hard to believe have quickly time has passed us by.  You are right, when you said that this is a constant battle that we will each have to fight and hopefully win 90% of the time.  Congratulations again, you look great!

Love the pics and the post. You look fantastic and it is always great to hear from those further out because most are so busy living their lives they don't come around any more. Thanks so much for sharing!!!

God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference...

Thank you so much for posting. Usually the only time we see a post for a longterm RNY is because of regain. It's great to hear the success stories.
