Hi there.  I haven't posted in ages (pre-surgery & using my "real" name - Christina-Marie), but I'm going to try to catch up now.

I am having difficulty w/ taking Miralax.  I can not tolerate most artificial sweeteners (they make me sick to my stomach) & am watching my sugar intake so I don't want to make a daily habit of mixing w/ juice.  I've tried mixing w/ water (eww) & in my morning protein shake (it separated) & have had little luck.

Do you have any favorite beverages that you mix your Miralax in?  Any tips or suggestions?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks in advance!

C

I take stool softeners everyday so i rarely need Miralax but when I do I mix in a nice hot cup of coffee.

Hey Dori - which SS do you take?  I think I'll have to switch to SS if I can't make the Miralax work.  Thanks so much in advance - C

I started off with Ducolax stool softeners $20 for 100 but I went through 2 bottles in less than 3mths. 2 weeks ago I switched to BJ's brand $7.99 for 500 they work just as well,so I'll be sticking with these. I usually have a bm or 2 everyday. On the rare occurence that I skip 2 days of having a bm a take a dose of Miralax.

In my protein shake, if I have one.  I don't have any problem with it separating.  I've also put it in hot tea.

Kelly - I'm mixing it in Syntrax  cappuccino w/ 1% milk & it seems to separate & get very foamy.  I live in CO, so I don't know if the elevation makes a difference or if I'm doing something wrong.

Hmm.  That is the same protein powder I use, only I mix it in soy milk or raw (whole) milk.  Syntrax does get foamy.  It gets foamy whether I put  MIralax in it or not.  How are you mixing yours?  I put it in a cup with a lid and shake.  I have no idea if the elevation would make a difference or not.

Kelly - I use a blender bottle w/ the metal ball in the bottom.  When I don't use  Miralax, I do get a little foam, but if I let it sit for a few minutes - it goes away.  When I use Miralax it creates a very thick foam (almost whipped like) & it doesn't reduce no matter how long I let it sit.

I'm going to try to mix w/ soy tomorrow & see if that helps any.  Thanks for the reply.

One option would be to mix your Miralax in a small amount of something.  Like, I understand why you don't want to use juice but what if you just put it in a couple ounces of juice?  Or if you made your protein shake, then poured two ounces of your shake into another cup, mixed the miralax in that and drank it even if it was frothy and just drank it fast before it really had time to separate?  And then drink some more liquid right after it, because I think you are supposed to take Mirilax with more than a couple ounces of liquid.

Either a protein shake or a cup of hot chocolate is what I do.
