Thank you very much for your reply.

I'm still deciding whether or not I want to try this, but if I do, I will take it very slowly and of course, I'd be at home.

I think for most people this process is "live and learn", just like everything else we come across in life.  If you try it and it makes you sick, you'll "learn" not to do it again, but if you try it and you're ok, then you'll know that once in a while you can "live" it up with your friends.

Everyone is different and for someone to assume you're some kind of closet alcoholic just because you were considering having a drink is a bit much.

To each his own, NO ONE is perfect and life is one big lesson :)

Peace & Blessings... Kelly

She is less than 2 months out..so tell her its ok to drink a few shots of rum.  BTW...she is a nurse who in a previous statements says alcohol is "always on her mind..."

Thank you!

The reason I asked is to learn, from other's experiences and also from other people's knowledge.  So far I've seen two good reasons not to attempt it and I thank the people who've given me their insight in a kind manner.

I've had several friends ask me out this past week, and had to tell them "no thanks" but couldn't say why.  I didn't even know why!  Now, I know a little but am still seeking more information.

I do think about avoiding alcohol addiction (if you've ever seen someone detox from alcohol, you'd understand).  Some will try to spin my words, which is unfortunate.  I'm far from being an alcoholic!

I don't know what damage, if any that alcohol can do to your pouch.  I get what you are saying about it being a liquid and therefore not posing any real threat to the pouch that way.  You might want to ask a (not necessarily yours) but a doctor and ask them if there is any threat to your healing process by having a drink.
I can do this!

It's not about hurting your pouch.

It's about hurting the rest of your body.  Period.

I can have a glass of wine but it hits me pretty hard. Hard liquor though makes me sick and it trakes a lot for me to dump. Be careful and drink at home first.

You are almost a year out....she is 5 weeks out...it is irresponsilbe for you to tell anyone to drink at this early stage....

Yeah and I think 5 weeks is too early but it sounds like she has made up her mind. I waited until 3 months and I still think THAT was too soon. I am just telling her to be careful whatever she does decide to do and hopefully it won't be for a few months.
