That's what I was thinking so I called and had the hospital page my sergen because he is on call this weekend and he told me there is no way its a nerve thing due to any WLS/vidamin because they take years to develop I'm only 5-6 weeks out. So my next guess is maybe an annoying reaction to this new medication I had to take upon finding out I have gout yesterday
First off, vitamin deficiencies dont take years to happen. People that dont take vitamin b12 or B1 depending on where there levels were before surgery could become serious in a matter of 2 or 3 months and I have seen it in less. Not everyone gets baseline labs preop to know if they had deficiencies like they should, so anyone could have a defaciency even before we start and almost all of us do with vitamin D. B12 drops drastically fast if you dont' take enough. I was in the hospital last winter and wasnt' taking my shots and I take them 3 times per week which is a huge dose and in 2 months my level dropped from 1800 to 400 - my doctor freaked and I had to go back on them daily for 2 weeks to get them back out of the danger zone.
So, I wasnt' saying your problem was from a vitamin problem I was concerned that you had a nerve problem in general and that is why I said you shoudl go to the ER so you could be seen by a Neurologist not your surgeon - it isnt a surgical problem. YOu had tingling and numbness not only in your extremities but also in your head which made me concerned - the extremites is a symptom of B12 or B1 deficiency. Do yourself and make sure you are taking atleast 1000mcg of B12 sublingual per day and possilby even 2000mcg in case you do have a deficiency = there is no danger in a high level but severe danger in a low level - nerve damage can become permanent. You also need 100mg of vitmain B1 and get to your PCP to get checked out
