BIG surprise at 5 1/2 months out!
For those of you who are not on my friends list and may not know, DH and I got a huge surprise a few days ago in the form of a positive pregnancy test!
Yes, it's a LOT sooner than we planned/expected and, yes, I'm a little bit nervous about this happening so soon after my surgery. But we are excited and blessed nonetheless.
I have already sought out my PCP and my surgeon and got the prenatal care ball rolling. I have an appointment with my NUT this afternoon to discuss nutrition and vitamins although I have already added a prenatal vitamin on top of my daily bariatric vitamin regimen. My PCP had run some blood work to check for deficiencies that may have been causing some dizziness and easy bruising, but those came back good. Unbeknownst to me or my doctor at the time, those symptoms were likely caused by my pregnancy.
My surgeon has told me to increase my protein to at least 70g per day, which I usually surpass anyway. He also told me to continue my vitamins (which was kind of common sense to me) and to up my fluid intake to 80oz or more per day which I am working on, and doing well with, so far. He also advised me to not gain any weight which is perfectly fine (as long as I'm getting proper nutrition) considering I'm still 100lbs overweight. So far I'm still losing. In fact, the extra metabolic burn my body is experiencing seems to have sped up my loss.
So I'm hoping and praying for the next 36 weeks to go by safely and healthily. I am doing absolutely everything in my power to assure that my little peanut (and myself) are well taken care of.

Congratulations! I'm wondering if you were on any form of birth control? My surgeon's office told me that quick weight loss can result in pregnancy due to shifting hormones and recommended 2 forms of birth control to prevent it. I am happy for you but don't want a baby right now. I am on the pill and use condoms. Did you have to wait long to get pregnant or did it just happen? If it's none of my business don't hesitate to say so! Thanks!
