Pothole
My surgery is scheduled for Monday and I've done so well with my eating for weeks now that I made the mistake of getting complacent and even a little self-righteous about my success. Then I hit a pothole on my road to good health. Last night someone called supposedly to check up on me but then she started spouting a lot of negativity about someone she knows who has had TWO weight loss surgeries. Being unbelievably sick of hearing nightmare stories I flew mad but instead of calling her on it I bottled it up. The result? As soon as I was off the phone I was scarfing down half a box of graham crackers with peanut butter. That, of course, set up disappointment and guilt and the anger became self directed. I'm happy to say, however, that I was right back on track with the very next meal and chalking it all up to a learning experience. Don't let the downers of the world take away your power and always remember that temptation will always be close by, ready to rear its ugly head, and I have to remain vigilant lest I fail for good.
