What's the big deal with string cheese?

I'm honestly not entirely sure what it is.. Yeah, it is mozarella (usually..) and the kind i get is part-skim.. low moisture i think? I'm not entirely sure. I usually end up having 1-2 a day either with a meal or as a snack.

the individual wrapping is a plus. small portion. easy protein. convenient on the go..

personally i love the taste. some brands are a lot better than others.. i couldn't stand majority of the brands the grocery store had.. except the one i have now (ironically the cheapest one they have..)

try a few other brands maybe? and maybe you just wont ever like it. everyone has those few foods that they just don't care for.

Try the Weigh****chers Smoked String Cheese...

The smoky flavor really kicks it up a notch.

Get fresh mozzarella.  (Or the tiny balls.)

Cut it into 1 ounce servings.

Much better!

I'm not into string cheese myself, so you're not alone. You can find other individually wrapped cheeses, if that's what you want. I think Sam's Club has a big bag of individually wrapped LF cheddar, but I can't remember the brand. It wasn't bad. A big part of my meal plan consists of cheese. I'll generally stick to Cabot 75% fat free for most things like salads & fritatas, but I'll use other cheeses, both low and full fat, depending on what i'm making. I LOVE goat & ricotta cheeses when I cook!!

I'm with you I can't stand the string cheese, but love some "real" mozzerella.  For my snack I plan (still in liquid phase til tomorrow) to use Baby Bel light, it's 50 cal. and 6g of protein.  A nice little pick me up.

Most cheese is 1/2 butter .  I look at a a Babybel and I see - one tablespoon ( at least )  of   BUTTER .  thats replacing fat that i've worked VERY hard to finally get OUT of my fat cells ...

why would i  want to eat anything  that will easily REPLACE that fat ?!!

Jes saying .. a fat free  post op diet helped me fit seamlessly into  a bikini ..

I thought you were getting a revision to a DS so you could eat normal food again? Those plans fall through?

How the heck does 3g of fat equate to 1 tbsp.  Even something more dense (and thus heavier) you are looking at 13g to equal a tbsp.

You need some fat in your diet, and fat in does not = fat put on.  Carbs are more likely the culprit unless you are eating buckets of it.

You are not alone. I can not stand string cheese of any variety. I prefer the individually wrapped sharp cheddar cheese chunks.
