What's the big deal with string cheese?

String cheese is meant to be eaten in strings.  Unwrap a stick of it and then pull off a tiny string from top to bottom.  Pop it in your mouth and start another string.  It is fun to play with and can take a long time to get in about 80 calories.  If you are not making strings, then you are just eating a piece of mozzerella.  It started out as a way to get kids to eat by letting them play with their food.

I would be really careful with cheese . Cheese is one of the main food s that got MO people to  the size they  were  pre WLS .

Personally I think it should be right  up there with forbidden slider foods to avoid post op  .. ice cream , cheese , peanut butter , nuts , fast food and candy ..

take flax seed oil and evening primrose oil to avoid fat cravings !

Something Else, you mentioned peanut butter being taboo....BUT...have you tried PB2? I got my first jar the other day, and it's heaven on earth!! It taste SO good, and it's low in fat.

Just saying :)

According to the Harvard School of Public Health eating nuts is associated with weight loss and encouraged as a healthy snack due to the healthy fats in them.

Sorry, Something Else, I think carbs and sugar are the main culprits as to what got a lot of us MO/SMO.

I'm not a huge fan of string cheese, it's a slider for me. But it is portable, low carb and readily available.

For those who don't like plain, Borden makes a pizza flavor and Kraft makes tomato basil which is totally YUM!

I never liked them very much either, I always thought they were something you put in your kids lunch, no real flavor.

If I am gonna eat moz, I only eat fresh made.

I eat the full fat Polly-o. I have one a day, along with regular eggs and natural peanut butter. My nut has told me time and again that fat is important to eat. It helps metabolize fat, helps your body let go of fat, and keeps you satisfied . It is also essential when you lift a lot of weights like I do- 4 or 5 hours of lifting a week. I am much more convinced that sugar and flour are what got me fat and kept me fat. if I never ever go back to sugar, but enjoy my nuts and cheese I am sure I will make my goal.

so, I had babybel today - that's what I expected the string cheese to taste like.

I think I still prefer a chunk of sharp cheddar tho!
