I doubt it.  I don't drink anything with equal or splenda, I dislike artificial sweeteners, so everything I have is low in sugar.  I've found that as long as I keep it under 35g of sugar (in whatever I have, be it a glass of OJ, Iced tea, or even a scoop of ice cream) then I don't dump.  It could be possible that I wouldn't dump if I had more sugar, but I don't need more sugar and am happy with the selection of foods I can eat.

I use stevia. There are more and more natural protein shakes and bars. I can't find any RTD - but powders - plenty.  Also - good drinks... all natural.  (I developed allergies to splenda post op)

I use stevia for baking and to flavor my yogurt, cheese, etc.
Now - can't he fix the hernia? why not?  I would look for a second opinion... and get the sleeve.

I can't use Splenda for the long term, but I figure that using the shakes is a very short term issue. Also, I think most unflavored shakes don't have any Splenda, Equal, etc. (I know the Bariatric Fusion one doesn't).

Someone else also mentioned not using artificial sweeteners, and I think it's possible. Try using some Stevia if you want to try to have a sweetened flavor. However, I highly recommend trying them out.

Don't count on being able to consume much sugar in case you're one of those who dumps. My doc only allows 15 gr, and from some posts I've read, that's pretty high.

Be careful on the taste difference in Stevia. I tried Truvia from the regular grocers, and hated it, so I get Nu Stevia from Whole Foods, and love it. They have it in the Supplement aisle. It's a little pricey, but you don't use much. Try it out ahead of time to be sure it's compatible.

I agree with the other poster on getting a 2nd opinion on the sleeve if that's what you really want.

Good Luck!

Are you basing your surgery on what artificial sweetners you can use? check into all of them. I don't use any artificial sweetners so I'm a bad person to ask - coffee black, no sugar in my ice tea, I drink something occsionally that has artificial sweetner or splenda like ingredient. I use regular sugar if I need something - not much and I'm fine.

i cant do the sugar free items either, most of the surgar acohols just tear me up, and i get majore migrines from asparteme that is most all of the diet items or sugar free items. so i also use real sugar, but i try to do as low as possible....i try to use raw sugar, not the processed white surgar....i only drink straight ice cold water or i make my own lemonade from fresh squeezed lemons, i use i cupe of lemon juice, and i cup total with each of the items in that one cup....raw sugar, but barely 1/4 cup if that, stevia and just a tad of splenda....i most of the time use less than the full cup of all of that combined in my lemonade....i dont drink tea, or coffee, sodas..i dont do puddings...i do get some weigh****chers ice cream snacks that are low in sugar..they are a fudecicle.....the small ones it has like 45 calories..that is my treat...i have not done any baking yet, but when i would bake pre op, i would use honey, molasses, and just a tad bit of raw sugar in my recipes...worked out pretty good so far...i have not tried it yet post op...i am just a year post op..
sorry cant be of more help
