First Post Op Trip to Walmart

Went to Walmart last night for the first time since my surgery on the 2nd and encountered what can only be described as severe culture shock! Has Walmart always had that much food...and did I really eat it? I was completely overwhelmed by it all! And everyone had buggies full of the stuff, some even eating it before they reached check out! Amazing!! I will always be eternally grateful that the Subway was closed, though, as I'm afraid the smell of their baking bread would have killed me! For sanity's sake I've decided to let someone else do my shopping until I'm on solid food again. Unlike many of you I AM having problems with wanting to eat and I don't want to torture myself unduly...

Haha, I totally get you. I never realized how much of our society revolves arounf food until I couldn't eat it. Including how many commercials there are for food.

OMG I'm totally opposite but I can see how that was really tough for you.  Congrats for getting through it.

Just like after my Lap band surgery yrs ago I get obsessed with everything food.  I've been watching 24 hours of both the food network channel and the cooking channel.  I love making dinners for my hubby and kids and smelling the food.  It's like I eat through everyone and of course I'm just sipping clear liquids.  I'm re-reading my book Eating Well After Weight Loss Surgery.  And I pretty much have mapped out about 15 soft food recipes that I will try next week depending on what I can tolerate.  I know SICK but it's how I cope.

Karianne,
I think we have a slight advantage over this because we have had the band and already gone through the emotional end of SOME stuff.
Try pinterest.com , you have to join , it is free , it is like having folders or boards of everything you like , type in low fat or healthy recipes...TONS of stuff comes up...very addicting
