There's not a standard amount.
The ASMBS recommends 200% of the RDA of most things, and that would include biotin. I think 200% is 600 mcg but I might be mistaken. I haven't looked it up in a while. You might have that much in your multi.
Some people take extra biotin, hoping it will help prevent hair loss and/or help with regrowth of hair. It might do that, but I don't think there are any studies that prove it. There are lots of anecdotal reports, though. In fact, some people report the growth of some facial hair when taking large doses of biotin.
It's a B vitamin, so it's water soluable, which means you should just pee out any extra that your body doesn't need. It would be really hard to take too much of it. So the dose you take is pretty much up to you.
