Ok, I know I see this on here all the time, but I am really confused. I seem to not be losing any weight right now and I am 3 1/2 months out have lost 71pds so far .  I think that I am not eating enough. I get about a 100grams of protein in a day in my drinks but not really eating anything else and my weight has just stopped. I forget if I am supposed to eat more than I burn or other way around?? THis is frustrating, I need to set a reminder for me to eat. Any advice would be appreciated!
Thanks

If I read this right, you are getting all your protein in drink.    I am almost 10 wks out and I get half in drink and the other in real food.  Maybe you can switch it up a bit and see what happens.   I plan to eventually get the majority in real food as I don't like protein drink.   Getting in the water is suppose to help, as well as, at least 30 minutes of exercise a day.  71 pounds is great ...

You need to burn more than you eat.  If you eat more than you burn, you gain weight.  If you eat the same amount that you burn, you stay the same weight.  To lose weight, you must burn more than you eat.

Congratulations on your loss - however ...

Your body needs food!!!!  With the exception of the liquid phase, protein drinks/shakes should supplement your food not replace it ...   Protein shakes do not contain micronutrients that our bodies need to function and so you are not helping your health by existing on them long term - they are NOT nutritionally complete!.

You should be introducing dense protein into your diet and learning new eating habits which will stand you in good stead once you get into the maintenance phase of your new lifestyle.

My surgeon said that people who drink the majority of calories tend to drop slower and regain more.  As Kim said, getting in dense protein is important and trying to get into the routine of consuming it is just as important.  I don't like protein drinks at all so have to get my protein through food.  I am eating slightly more calories on average (about 750-800 a day), but getting about 65-70g of protein from food.

You had surgery a week after me and you've lost 6 pounds more than I have.  (I lost 30 pre-op and 55 so far post-op.)  I think I'm right on target, which puts you ahead of the game at this point!  But it's not a race in any case.

I forget to eat sometime, too.  I get busy and usually don't get hungry, and I just don't think about it. Then I'm eating dinner at 9PM just to get all my meals in!
