buyers remorse

All the IV sticks are no fun. I've been there and got the bruises to show for it. I used to donate blood all the time and now my veins are crap, I just hope they will get better as I lose the weight. What you are feeling is very normal, I doubt if there are many post op RNY's that haven't gone through those emotions. Now that you are home get plenty of rest as well as some activity. I know you must be sleep deprived from all the interruptions while you were in the hospital. You will feel better and I hope sooner rather than later. Like someone before me said, check OH daily or better yet, several times a day. The friends here are very supportive and they have helped me lots.
Hang in there and keep us posted...and if you need help, just ask.

I am half the person I was in 2008.
i had the same issue with my veins. i had crappy nurses that wouldn't listen to me that there was a problem even though you could see the fluid pooling under my skin (it looked like a super huge water blister). they ended up putting one in my thumb! then that one collapsed too. i was leaving the next morning so they just let me go the last night without an iv. i didn't get any gas pains either, but i was up and walking as soon as they brought me to my room. i was asking them if i could take walks instead of them telling me i had to.
it gets better from here. the worst is past you.

Girl, I hear you! But it does get sooooooo much better!!!!! I had so many bruises with major hematoma all over my entire abdoment it looked black from one end to the other.
It was a tough few first weeks after surgery. Then.....a sense of normal starts to creep in little by little. You will figure out how to get your liquids in then make sure you get all of your protein and learn your new ways to eat. I promise you it does get better and better as time goes by. I am now 5 months out and have lost about 82 pounds and feeling wonderful.
I had those thoughts of "what the hell have I done!" Believe me I did!! Now I am saying "look what I have really done and look how wonderful my life and health is". You will be in my thoughts and just know what you are experiencing is very normal! You will get through it!
