Sugar-free candy for diabetics...
You will know when you try them. Start slowly. I know I do not tolerate them. Even the SF gum gives me nasty gas. SF candy - a disater for me. But then I never could stop of one small piece... but 3-5 ... o boy... night in the bathroom..

I do!
I have two bags of candy in my pantry...my "emergency ration", I like to call it.
I have one bag of sugar free dark Hershey miniatures, and one bag of regular cadbury candy-covered chocolate eggs.
I can pop two or three of the eggs without problem, or three or four of the miniatures.
But really, I haven't had much drive for sweets. I'm not a huge sweets-eater in the first place (except for ice cream, which I LOVE) . I had one PMS-fueled chocolate binge a couple weeks ago, where I ate, like, 6 of the sugar free miniatures. It made my pouch burpy and gurgly, but sat okay otherwise.
Still. A "binge" of 6 sugar free miniatures, when pre-op, a chocolate binge may have included a pint of Ben & Jerry's and a sleeve of Oreos?
Not too bad. Not too bad at all.

I confess I usually have a small bag of sugar free Werthers every day.. I think it comes to about 100 calories and I get it at the dollar store. I started eating it to deal with my constipation (at least that is what I told myself) and at first I had terrible gas and diarrhea but now it has no effect on me whatsoever, not even gas. I guess my body just built a tolerance to it. I am back to dealing with the constipation like before so now it is just a treat. I've told myself that as long as it isn't more then a bag then I can have it but if it gets to be more then I will stop. So far I've never really wanted more then the bag. I am the same way with sugar free fudgcicles. I have one a day, have for months and months. If I can't limit myself then I give it up, as I have other things I have felt compulsive about.
I avoid the sugar free Hershey's dark chocolate because one or two just isn't enough for me. Even if I only eat one or two I think about it far more then I like so I just stopped buying them.

I have the SF hershey's, reeses minis, and life savers. I allow myself one SF candy a day if i feel the desire for one. I might have 2(at different times) life savers if i need something to suck on during that 30 minutes after a meal when i cant drink my water. They help a lot since I got bored of the SF gum. I've also seen other items like SF truffles but haven't tried them yet. I get mine at Rite Aid and Walmart.
