Proferrin (ES) Questions...
I was having some iron issues (low), and since I don't seem to be doing well absorbing carbonyl iron I thought I'd give Proferrin a shot. I just got it today, and I've read a few things I need some clarification about...
1) I heard for us, we should break them in half for best absorbtion. True?
2) I heard they do just fine with calcium, caffiene (coffee), etc so I don't have to stress if I take them a little while after my morning coffee, etc. True?
3) I heard that unlike "regular" iron, these do NOT like vitamin C. Of course I read this after I took my first dose, with a vitamin C lol. True?
4) Lastly, the bottle says to take one tablet up to three times daily. I read most people take 1-2 pills daily. I'm thinking of doing the full 3 a day to boost, then dropping to maintain, depending on what my labs look like. Any thoughts on the dosage?
Thanks in advance for any input. You guys rock!

My answers are from my experience with Proferrin.
#1 I do break mine in half.
#2 I take them with my calcium & vitamins and drink coffee shortly after.
#3 Correct
#4 I was having PS. My heme numbers were low. I took Proferrin 3 times a day and with in 6 weeks I went from Anemic to Iron deficient (iron in blood was normal, stored Iron was low).
Also, I didn't suffer the side effects of iron. No constipation or stomach cramps.
Good luck!
Proferrin is costly but very good!

Thank you for your response, that's helpful! Yes, it is spendy isn't it? Guess it beats paying for iron infusions! LOL I am not anemic btw, and I seem to be opposite of your deficiency, my iron in blood is low, stored iron is fine. (Or so I was told) I don't know what that means! But thought this will help at any rate. Thanks again for your help!
