OT If One Is Good... X Post

So I lost my dog a little while ago and I felt strongly that I wanted another pet, not to replace him but for a distraction and outlet for my caretaking urges.  JJ was very sick for the last few years and needed daily medicine and attention and his death left a big void and I figured a kitten would fufill that need.
So we looked around and I found a cute little male kitten.  I was told he was mine as soon as he turned 6 weeks or the plan was to take him to the pound.  I attempted to contact them for several days and they never responded so I found another kitten, a little girl and brought her home.  We named her Ruby.

Then yesterday I heard back from the people with the male kitten wanting to know if I still wanted him or they would be taking him to the shelter.  I couldn't let that happen so I went and got him.

The two of them look like they could be from the same litter and they are getting along great, as are the dogs.  I never could do things half way so instead of one cat I have two, just like I have 3 dogs.  No doubt I have a problem with moderation.

Awww, what little cuties! I also got 2 kittens at the same time and they ended up being the sweetest most cuddly cats I'd ever had.   Congrats on your new babies:)

Mazel Tov! That kind of moderation I whole heartedly agree with. They are adorable.

Moderation is my KEY issue to why I became obesity. I do NOT do moderation well.

BUT I have to say awwwww how cute. Especially the little tortoiseshell girl. My tortoiseshell girl is cuddled up to me purring away (her name is Tortellina, and her brother is Rigatony)

Have you named them??? They look so sweet.

I'm a sucker for kitties. Not doggies, but kitties. I'm bad in the moderation department there too. I always say when people want to know how many cats I have... "how do you define whether a cat is one you own?" .... if it's one you set out to acquire, we have ONE cat. If it is one that freely goes in and out of your house and uses the cat boxes, SIX.... if it's a cat that is an alley cat, but you've named it, and it doesn't leave your yard and makes use of the cat-door on occasion when the weather is bad....  NINE. eight of which are alley cats that stuck around after we got them fixed.

Not QUITE a hoarder. Especially as only one is ours

I'm so happy to hear that you had the strays fixed. I plan on doing that as soon as possible.
The girl is Ruby and the boy is Larry.
I wasn't really thinking about the vet bills, which have just doubled but I can give them their s******cept the rabies and I want them tested for feline HIV. There is a way to get them fixed for ten dollars that I need to check out.

I always heard that cats are like potato chips, you can't have just one.

I think getting two at once is great.  They will probably be best buddies.  They will have someone to play with, and usually kitties that are raised together like to snuggle each other to sleep and they groom each other and stuff.  And they are so cute!

Aww Taz, Ruby and Larry are adoreable!  Look at their fuzzy kitten fur!  I have 4 myself. Would have more but the inn is full.

It's good to have a set.  Especially getting them at the same time.  They should be good playmates for each other.

Congrats!

soo cute... BTW: I hope you know that most Animal shelters - Humane S. have good rates from spaying or neutering the cats?  Just saying... money does not grow on trees. My vet quoted me 200 for "fixing my cat" and I had it done in MS for ..$25 (they have special rates for males in my area).  That saved me a bundle..

I think that is just so sweet having adopted two adorable kitties!

We have 6, and if I had it my way, I'd adopt more!  They are all rescue cats and they are the love of my life!

These two kitties have gotten a wonderful, loving home and I wish you all the best with your new babies!
