All these drinks reinforce my love of sweets. My NUT advises me not to dance with the devil. I do my best. Been off soda now for 3 months and to tell you the truth I really don't miss them. I know for me, one thing leads to another. That's just me, some of you may be much stronger, but I am not.

Caffeine inhibits the absorption of calcium and iron I believe.

I have a soda fountain in my house and have been drinking diet coke for the last year. I waited till I was at least a year out before I tried carbonation again. Started out letting it get flat because I love the taste of diet come.  I slowly added in the carbonation. I have no problems at all and I am two and a half years out.

For some people, these drinks can irritate your pouch.  For me, all it takes is one, then I feel lousy for a couple of weeks.  Either carbonation or caffiene does it.

Not worth it for me.

I sometimes take two or three sips of diet Pepsi with certain pills I'm prescribed.  They are just so large and so bitter, it helps me get them down.  But that's the only time I drink anything with carbonation, as anything more than a few sips gives me a very uncomfortable feeling.

I dont drink energy drinks.. just dont like the smell.. but an RNY buddy of mine drinks one I think its monster or rock star.. it is called rheab. it's sugar free and has no carbonation with something like 10 grams of protein, he loves them.
i say try it out.. just go slow.. you will know after a sip or two if the bubbles are an issue.

I just think carbonated beverages are a nasty beast that contribute to weight gain. Why even go there after all the work you've done to get where you are? I would try hard to find a replacement you can live with. Just my humble opinion.
