I guess another scenario might be:

You-- I could do a double etc. etc.
Him-- Whatever, fine, I don't care.
You-- No, lamp of my life, sunshine of my heart, the correct response is, "How about a kiss instead? I can't resist you, you beautiful sexy woman, you."
Him-- Oh, right. Sorry. *repeats it word for word; adds a kiss and a neck rub*

Naturally, my own response would no doubt have been, "Why don't you go take a flying leap, idiot." Or perhaps, "You don't care? Do you care about this?" and socked him in the arm.

Well, that same night, after my day long bc pill emotional roller coaster, I came home and the hubs gave me a smile and a wave, and once I'd dropped my bags, pulled me in for a kiss. So, alls well that ends well. (I'll save you the boring make up conversation, but we'll have to get into Dagne's script another time.)

I guess I am not sure what you wanted him to say, to tell you no you can't have a donut or to say sure eat all the donuts you want, what would the right answer have been?  When I suggest I want something I shouldn't have my boyfriend says ok fat girl wants a brownie, I tell him to go **** himself and if I really want a brownie I have one and mostly I don't.  But we can joke around with each other that way and my boyfriend gets I am mostly nuts anyway.  I think you need to apologize and explain how you feel, he really could never have won no matter what he says and I am sure he just wants to see you succeed and you suggesting sabotage is hard to hear, but no one wants to turn into the food police.
